Following the Wisemen

Description

Following the Wisemen is a One Act Christmas play in five scenes written for a cast of 17 and extras; however seven of the parts can be duplicated if necessary. Speaking parts begin at 7 lines and cap at 21 lines.

The play opens in Herod’s throne room with the Magi looking for the baby King. When the Magi leave the palace some of the King’s court follows trying to find the baby. The trio includes an overexcited priest who has been waiting on the Messiah, the chief priest who is not interested in losing his place in the palace and a neutral and level headed scribe. The three and their inept temple guard interview some shepherds and the innkeepers, but they never find the Magi. Nevertheless, their encounter with the baby leaves them forever changed.

Following the Wisemen takes about thirty minutes to perform and is easy to stage in even the smallest sanctuary. The cast as well as the audience will love the drama and the fun.
