The One Who Made the Mountains Wants to Talk to You

He who forms the mountains,
    who creates the wind,
and who reveals his thoughts to mankind,
who turns dawn to darkness,
and treads on the heights of the earth—
the Lord God Almighty is his name.

Amos 4:13

In four lines Amos states some of the most amazing qualities of God. The Omnipotent Lord made the mountains and the wind. He allows the sun to rise and set and walks on the heights of the earth. But did you notice what Amos inserted into the middle of His praise? In addition to all of the magnificent things the Almighty has created, on top of the marvelous gifts He gives and the way He blesses, the Creator reveals His thoughts to mankind.

One of the things I often wonder is why the King of kings allows His minions to know His thoughts. It’s not like we deserve it. We mess things up more often than we get them right. Yet, the One who paints the sunsets and sets rainbows in the sky speaks to the hearts of humans. He wants us to know what He’s thinking. He tells us He wants to be our friend.

Not one president in the last fifty years has called me and asked me to lunch, the pope doesn’t have my e-mail address, celebrities haven’t noticed my existence. Yet the One who is bigger and mightier than any of those famed earthly men and women knows me intimately and wants me to know Him.

So, the next time you see a mountain or a leaf blowing remember that your heavenly Father wants to share His ideas with you. He’s waiting for you to initiate a conversation so He can tell you His latest points of view. Listen for God to reveal His thoughts to you!
